Find Those Who Believe in You

Throughout my personal journey and those of the many entrepreneurs I’ve worked with, it has become clear that it is hard work and dedication that makes a difference. Working while others are sleeping, being on a plane while others are enjoying life with their family, working at 2 a.m. to finalize a proposal due at 5 a.m., or not sleeping for 2 days because of work, travel, bills, or whatever.

I’ve learned that all those things are key components, along with those who believe you are inspiring and find ways to support you. Even my first t-shirt business began because someone believed I could deliver on what they stated.

During the 1990 Gulf War, my high school teacher called to ask me to run the grocery plaza in our war-torn town. He believed I could deliver in such rough times.

Because others believed I could deliver, I obtained:

  • My first t-shirt business.
  • The first wholesale account — selling beauty products.
  • My first position as an executive at Macy’s Department Stores.
  • My first contract with a large institution.
  • My first contract with an entrepreneur.
