In our interaction with entrepreneurs and leaders around the world we’ve heard leadership defined many ways, depending on the perception of individual people. One person’s “reality” about leadership might be quite different from another’s.

Our learning comes from the leaders and entrepreneur’s we work with around the world. Many of them have the ability to hold themselves accountable without anyone asking them to do it.

The skill set of self-governance spark many of the innovations and results that we see today. As you govern your body, your tasks, and vision or mission, as you control what you do every day, it becomes clear why you should be motivated every morning.

Another thing we’ve noticed in interacting with leaders is that when they are judged by others, they reflect on themselves and their actions rather than taking the other person’s perception at face value, while still adjusting their behavior to address some of the observer’s comments.

Leadership is not an easy role, meaning that most likely you’ll have those who support you and those that don’t, it takes a vision of self-governance and reflection to keep moving forward.

BEFORE YOU GO

We see our blogs as opportunities for dialogue. Please share your thoughts as comments.

As you continue to lead or follow your path to become a leader, please remember:

  1. Continue to self-govern your actions.
  2. Reflect on what others may say or do about you and what you do.
  3. What other tools have you used to stay focused on your leadership?
