Living at Work
Over this past COVID year, many people have shared with us that they struggle to balance work and life, and feel that they are “living at work” since there is no going or back and forth, — they are always home, and always working.
I encourage you to think about ways you could create a sense of balance. We’ve learned over the past year is that some employers are creating a new work norm. You might have heard people speaking of 4–9–4, 3–2–2, or 2–3–2. They signify something like 4 days of nine hours, one day of 4 hours, or three days in the office, two at home, two days in office or 3 at home. Some are even offering a week on, a week off. These options should encourage you to start thinking about creating a sphere where you can have work/life balance, or at least attempt to keep them swinging.
Working from home, consider how you can close the door or walk away when work time is over, or create a new routine that allows different types of breaks throughout the day. Each of these has the potential to create work/life balance.
